I haven’t had much to say lately. Well, maybe I was being a bit lazy, but I am back with a few thoughts starting with my visit to the dentist.
I know that visiting the dentist is probably not on the top of your list of things that you want to do. It certainly hasn’t been on mine. However, we all need to have our teeth checked from time to time and finding the right dentist can be a challenge.
I started visiting dentists when I was a little boy who liked to eat ketchup sandwiches. White bread, a little butter and a lot of ketchup! It is not a good diet and it can ruin your teeth! I had lots of cavities. Then, when in high school, my parents thought I should be worked on by dental students at Loyola Dental School in New Orleans. I spent hours in the chair because after the student did some work, a professor had to check the work. All the while I sat there with a dental dam hold my mouth open and isolating the tooth being repaired. I think that experienced scarred me for life. I hated dentist!
Most of the dentists I’ve been to in my life were interesting in a funny sort of way. One that I went to years back played opera and when he worked on your teeth you had the sense that he thought he was conducting the orchestra. I worried when the music reached a climax! Another dentist was an avid golfer. There he was with his hands in my mouth telling me about his round of golf on a local course. You’ve probably been to a few dental offices that were a bit quirky, or somewhat boring. At one time, a study of suicides showed dentists to be in the top 5 victims.
Park West Dentistry is different. You probably got that from the picture, but the office is also different. You feel like you’re in a spa, not a dentist office. The staff is very friendly and caring. While you wait your turn, you are offered water or tea. When it is your turn you are offered a warm towel for under your neck. When you are finished, you have a warm cloth to wipe your face, a bag of dental goodies and instructions on how to continue caring for your teeth. I actually feel relaxed after my visits.
If you live near Park West in Mt. Pleasant, SC, you couldn’t ask for a better dentist. Dr. Amanda Seay and her staff will make your visit a relaxing experience.
I had a cleaning a few weeks ago and just having quiet time to lay down I almost fell asleep waiting for the dentist to arrive. If I was at your dentist’s office I definitely would have!
Knowing you, yes, I can see you sleeping in the dentist chair! I learned how to do that at Loyola.
